Blind Swede Sees After 18 Years of Blindness
We all know Sweden is one of the best countries to live in. It has been acknowledged as “the best place to grow old”. Indeed, they have some of the best social services in the world. On top of that, income inequality there is far less pronounced than here in the US. As a matter of fact, “most Americans want the wealth distribution of Sweden” – and not just 50 or 60 percent, but whopping 92 percent. Most of these are obvious. But what is not so obvious is that even the blind there seem to have a better chance.
The Local – a Swedish publication – has reported that “a Swedish pensioner has miraculously regained her eyesight after spending more than a decade in the dark.” She says it is now exciting when she goes out. It must be. She is 71 years old, so to regain your sight at this age must be like winning a 3rd chance lottery. Indeed, wouldn’t it be cool if everyone was entitled to a 3rd chance lottery ticket?
Apart from the importance of 3rd chance, this also raises another interesting point: how about people who have eyesight but don’t see anything? I mean bankers and stockbrokers. Well, let’s take all their money and send them to Sweden. Perhaps they will regain their eyesight too.
Sorry for my little aside about bankers and stockbrokers, but I just couldn’t help myself. This story is of course so above them that it needs a better ending. So I have a few questions for you, which I myself answer. Why ask a question you can’t answer?
What makes this story especially magical? It happened during the Christmas time.
What did she say when she woke up and started seeing? “I thought that I was dreaming or that I was in heaven. It was unreal”. Now I am asking you if you ever read anything more heartwarming. If you ever did, post a link to it in the comments .
